Express Entry pathways. It’s crucial to understand that regardless of the intended Canadian province or

essential for all individuals seeking to immigrate to Canada.
NON-EXPRESS ENTRY PROCESS
In the Non-Express Entry process:
- Submit an application to the specific province or territory.
- Fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the nominating province or territory.
- If nominated, apply for permanent residency online.
- Complete a mandatory medical examination.
- Obtain a police clearance certificate.
*Please be aware that application processing times for the Non-Express Entry process might be longer compared to the Express Entry process.
EXPRESS ENTRY PROCESS
The Express Entry process manages applications for permanent residency in Canada through the Federal Skilled
Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, and Canadian Experience Class.
There are two ways to apply
through Express Entry:
CONTACTING THE PROVINCE OR TERRITORY FOR NOMINATION
- Apply for nomination under an Express Entry stream from your chosen province or territory.
- If nominated, create or update your Express Entry profile to indicate your nomination.
EXPRESS ENTRY PROFILE
- Create an Express Entry profile and specify your preferred provinces and territories.
- If a province or territory expresses interest in your profile, contact them directly to apply to their Express Entry stream.
- If nominated, accept the nomination certificate electronically.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- In both methods, applicants must meet the eligibility criteria of the province or territory, submit an Express Entry profile, and demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements for Express Entry, including eligibility for one of the covered immigration programs.
*If invited, applicants should submit an electronic application to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
